DESCRIPTION

​Not for nothing is the Trekking Tortoise known as the hardiest creature in the Terminus Sandsea. Its tenacious carrying capacity and unmatched trekking ability make it the pack animal of choice for Omari merchant caravans. 　　Tortoises may often give the impression of doddering clumsiness, but the Trekking Tortoise is no ordinary tortoise. In fact, it is one of the anomalous creatures known as chimeras, which combine the traits of multiple different kinds of animals. It possesses an organ called the xenoluce that can convert blue crystal into energy, enabling the underside of the tortoise's shell to resonate with particles of blue crystal mixed in with the desert sands. This produces a repulsive force, allowing the tortoise to glide along the ground relatively quickly, thus achieving the speed a merchant caravan requires in its pack animals. Very few vehicles or living things are capable of keeping up with the Trekking Tortoise's trekking and survival abilities. Meanwhile, protecting merchant caravans poses a major challenge. The idea of guarding their tortoises with more tortoises prompted much discussion within the merchant guild; in the end, they decided to mount a harpoon gun and machine gun on the back of a Trekking Tortoise, creating an armed escort version of the Trekking Tortoise to defend against chimeras and desert marauders. Each one carries a driver and a gunner, as well as a Y-thermos (blue crystal energy cell) and a trunk of spare weapons, completing its transformation into a Trekking Tortoise Destroyer, protector of merchant caravans. Last but not least, their shells are hard enough to resist chimera attacks, lending them a natural advantage in protecting caravans.
