When the Mithril Hawks upgraded from a traditional squad of knights to become ARCHE-SOLDIERs, their existing heavy ballista “Steelwing” also received an upgrade. Features such as a simple mechanism and maintenance were retained but the ballista’s materials were greatly enhanced; the addition of a composite fiber bowstring greatly increases the ballista’s effective distance. Additionally, an ARCHE motor has been installed so that horses are no longer required to transport the weapon. Due to their design limitations, ballistas require support from other squads to cover for their poor turning and low mobility. Aside from traditional alloy materials, arrow clusters can be replaced with high explosive or incendiary arrows that allow Steelwing Heavy Ballista to maintain a high degree of firepower even when facing enemy vehicles, city walls, or infantry units, greatly increasing its versatility.
